DESPITE some unfavourable weather, the Victorian Baseball Little League Championships returned to Geelong in a big way.

Each age division included five charter teams made up of players from all over Victoria, providing a platform for the state’s top junior baseball players to compete against their peers.

Athletics were named 2023 Intermediate League State Champions.

Three sides were crowned champions of the event, with Mets (Senior League), Rangers (Junior League), and Athletics (Intermediate League) all taking out their respective age divisions.

“What an awesome weekend of baseball at the 2023 Senior, Junior and Intermediate League State Championships!” a Baseball Victoria spokesperson said following the weekend.

“Unfortunately, wet weather called off the Junior and Intermediate League finals.

“But a huge thank you to the grounds crew from Guild All-Stars, East Belmont Saints, and Deakin for all their efforts to get the grounds playable today and throughout the whole weekend.

“We greatly appreciate this hard work!”

Geelong continues to host the Championships each year, and will again do so in 2024.
