GEELONG’S AFLW side will play for their season as they take on the undefeated Essendon this Sunday, September 7 at Windy Hill.

The Cats are winless from their first three games and their task will not get any easier as they travel to face the third-placed Bombers.

Despite the 0-3 record, Geelong has challenged some of the AFLW’s best sides, including reigning premiers North Melbourne. However, a fourth-straight loss would all but put a line through their aspirations to return to the finals.

Meanwhile, the Bombers have impressed in their three-game win streak, posting high scores and restricting the opposition while doing so.

The Cats have not played Essendon since 2023, where they prevailed by three goals at GMHBA Stadium.

Cats midfielder Georgie Prespakis comes into the matchup against sister Maddy in blistering form, averaging 26.7 disposals and just over nine clearances in her first three games. Nina Morrison is averaging 20.3 disposals and 5.7 tackles.

For the Bombers, Georgia Nanscawen has started the season red hot, averaging 25.7 disposals a game, whilst lively forward Sophie Alexander has kicked four goals from her three games.

The match will start at 3.05pm at Windy Hill.
