Chalcraft secures second Cats VFL B&F

GEELONG Cats VFL midfielder Jye Chalcraft has claimed the club’s Best & Fairest award for a second-straight year.

Chalcraft capped off a stellar third season with the reserves, polling 163 votes across all 18 games.

He averaged 22 disposals per game, picking up a season-high 33 possessions in Geelong’s Round 6 win over Coburg.

Chalcraft, 22, focused on his craft as a small forward, kicking 16 goals during the season.

VFL vice-captain Daniel Capiron was runner-up finish in the count with 156 votes.

Capiron was among the competition’s best for intercept marking across half-back, averaging more than six marks a game, and surpassed 20 disposals on four doccasions as well.

First-year rookie and recent AFL debutant Ted Clohesy claimed third place with 147 votes, finishing as the highest-ranked AFL-listed player following an excellent season.

Clohesy joined the Cats list through the Geelong’s Next Generation Academy, and debuting for the Cats’ AFL side in Round 24 against the Western Bulldogs.

Mace Cousins was awarded the Little Vic Award for best first year player following.
