Coerver Coaching heads to the Surf Coast

YOUNG soccer talent from around Victoria will converge on Torquay early next month when Coerver Coaching Geelong kicks off a globally recognised technical skills development camp for the first time.

Children aged between 6 and 16 will join a team of Coerver accredited coaches and receive age specific technical and physiological coaching to drive their on- and off-field success.

The development camp will be modelled on Coerver Coaching camps that operate worldwide.

Coerver Coaching Geelong director Adrian Leijer said he was delighted to bring the camp to the Surf Coast in partnership with Coerver’s international partner adidas.

He said positions were filling quickly, and the development camp would become an annual event on the Surf Coast.

“We are very excited to bring the development camp to Torquay for the first time and provide local kids access to the same development opportunities that are available to players around the world,” Mr Leijer said.

“It’s also great timing because it gives the kids a really good solid chunk of pre-season football just before their seasons start.”

 

Established in 1984 by Dutch football manager Weil Coerver, the revolutionary Coerver Coaching method encompasses programs for players, coaches, clubs and schools in more than 53 countries with 1.5 million participants.

Mr Leijer, a former Socceroo and Olympian, brought Coerver’s training programs to Geelong and the Surf Coast three years ago, with the local operations now reaching more than 2500 participants.

The Coerver Coaching Torquay Development Camp, which runs from April 7 to April 10, is a technical development program for young players that aims to maximise individual potential.

Players will receive:

• Twenty-one hours of programmed Coerver coaching from official Coerver-accredited coaches

• Coerver Coaching small sided games

• Coerver Coaching 1v1 tournament

• Adidas training ball

• Adidas training shirt

• Coerver Coaching certificate, and

• Coerver Cup and prizes.

 

“One of my main goals this year is to explore new and innovative programs in order to give local kids access to what’s on offer around the world,” Mr Leijer said.

“The quality of what we deliver is always best in class. My vision is to grow our development camp and provide kids a perfect preparation ahead of their new seasons.

“We continue to inspire kids locally and look forward to attracting kids from across the region to the Surf Coast during the popular Easter period.”
