Falcons trio appear in Vic Country loss to South Australia

VICTORIA Country have gone down to South Australia in their final match of the Under-18 Girls National Championships.
Country finish the tournament on two wins and two losses after the 38-58 defeat at Thomas Farms Oval in Adelaide.
The Geelong Falcons were again well represented, with Georgia Tyrrell (St Josephs), Stella Huxtable (Torquay) and Meg Lappin (Newtown & Chilwell) in the side.
Tyrrell backed up her strong performance against Victoria Metro with 19 disposals and seven tackles. The half-back’s 77 ranking points were the second-most for Victoria Country.

Huxtable was named on the half-forward flank and gathered 16 disposals (four clearances) and three tackles.
Lappin, who is the daughter of Brisbane Lions legend and now Geelong Cats assistant coach Nigel, had three disposals.
For South Australia, Emma Charlton kicked a goal from her 23 disposals and laid seven tackles, whilst Eloise Mackereth kicked two goals and had 13 disposals and four marks.
There are four Falcons included in the Victoria Country under-18 list, with Tyrrell, Huxtable and Lappin joined by Torquay’s Greea McKeegan.
The focus now turns to the Falcons’ final two matches of the Coates Talent League season. After winning their past four matches, the side now sit fifth on the ladder.
