Four Falcons feature in Vic Country under-18 win against Allies
VICTORIA Country have secured their first win of the under-18 Boys Championship, beating the Allies at Ikon Park on Saturday.
After losing their first two matches of the tournament, Victoria Country got their campaign going and handed the Allies their second loss, winning 11.16 (82) to 10.10 (70).
The Geelong Falcons were again represented by trio Josh Lindsay (Newtown & Chilwell), Jesse Mellor (Geelong West) and Hugo Mikunda (Bell Park), while train-on player Jack Pickett (Torquay) also joined them in the team’s third hit out of the Championship.
Lindsay gathered 18 disposals and seven marks in another consistent performance off the half-backline.
Mellor, a Geelong NGA prospect, again booted three goals from his 15 disposals and had the second-most ranking points on the ground with 88.
Mikunda had seven touches and three tackles, lining up across half-back alongside Lindsay.
The 17-year-old Pickett impressed in his debut for Victoria Country, kicking 1.2 to go with three marks and two tackles.
For the Allies, Lachlan Carmichael racked up 33 disposals, whilst Jack Miler kicked three goals in their narrow defeat.

Six Falcons are included on Victoria Country’s under-18 list, with Lindsay, Mellor, Mikunda and Pickett joined by Rilley Aquilina (St Josephs), Jett Elek (Lara) and Ben Rongdit (Colac), as well as Fletcher Pulleine (St Josephs) in the train-on squad.
