AUSTRALIAN NBA star Josh Giddey will come to Torquay next month to run a basketball camp in a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity for young Surf Coast basketballers.

The Oklahoma City Thunder guard will host a full day clinic on June 26 at Wurdi Baierr Stadium, with registrations now open for the special event.

The Torquay stop is one of three that Giddey will make as part of a tour of his home state during the NBA off-season, which will include a host of skills drills and competitions for all ability levels.

Giddey himself will run one of the skills stations and has guaranteed an autograph for every participant on the day.

Melbourne NBL legend and Josh’s father Warrick Giddey, former NBL general manager and recruiter Jeff Van Groningen, other special guests and Surfcoast Basketball Association coaches will also help direct the event.

Surfcoast Basketball Association domestic players will have access to an exclusive pre-registration period until May 10 when the program becomes public, the club announced via its channels today.

Registration is open for players aged 8 to 17, and will cost $195.
