OCEAN GROVE’s pursuit of back-to-back A Grade netball premierships has received a huge boost with three-time GNL A grade league best and fairest Zanna Woods committing to the Grubbers for 2024.

The former Ocean Grove FNC junior will return to the Grubbers for the first time in over a decade.

The 26-year-old has spent much of her career playing in the Geelong Football Netball League.

She won her three league medals at Leopold, before making the move to Newtown & Chilwell ahead of the 2019 season.

Zanna Woods is a three time league best and fairest winner in the GNL.

Woods said the timing was perfect to make the move back to her home club.

“I’m so excited to be back at the Grubbers in 2024.

“I really enjoyed my time in the GNL at two amazing clubs, but everything has just fallen into place with going back to Ocean Grove and I couldn’t be happier.

“The prospect of chasing a premiership is huge, and something I’m really excited about.

“I’ve absolutely loved seeing the club’s success and growth in the past few years and I can’t wait to get started and be part of it.”

The goaler has also been part of the Geelong Cougars representative team since Under 19’s and suited up for the Collingwood Magpies in the Australian Netball Championships in 2023.

Ocean Grove A/B coach Mel Holmes said the club was over the moon to welcome Woods back to the Grubbers.

“It’s massive for our club and we are really excited to have her back to strengthen our attacking unit in 2024,” Ms Holmes said.

“Zanna is a very creative and clever player, so she’ll certainly be really dynamic for us down the attacking end.

“She’s a quality player, a real quality person, and will be fantastic role model for our juniors.

“It’s just perfect timing for us too and we are just thrilled to have her back home.”

Ocean Grove will begin their pre-season training in November
