GromSearch to launch at Jan Juc

MORE than 90 competitors will pull on the competition jersey this weekend at Jan Juc on Wadawurrung Country for the launch of the 2023 Rip Curl GromSearch series.

The event will bring together athletes from all over the country who will vie it out for vital ranking points to qualify for October’s National Final at URBNSURF.

The impressive list of previous GromSearch competitors includes more than 15 athletes now on the World Surf League Championship Tour, a testament to the quality of the series.

Surfing Victoria chief executive officer Adam Robertson said he was keen to see the plethora of Australian surfing talent on display.

“We are stoked to be hosting the opening event of the Rip Curl GromSearch again this year.

Local surfers Delilah Chisolm, Charlie Chisolm, Anise Pruvot and Dune Pruvot will compete in the Rip Curl GromSearch this weekend at Jan Juc.

 

“The Surf Coast is the home of the Rip Curl GromSearch, and it’s fitting to open the series here at Jan Juc.

“Each year we get to witness the next crop of incredible surfing talent from around the country go head to head.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the level of progression from the best groms in Australia!”

Event top seed and local Rip Curl team rider Ava Holland said she was excited to be surfing in front of a home crowd in the nationally rated event.

“The Rip Curl GromSearch is one of my favourite comps of the year, so saying I’m excited is an understatement.

“The Under 16 girls division is so stacked, from top to bottom there is amazing surfers from all around Australia.”

Others competing in the event include local sibling duos Charlie and Delilah Chisolm and Dune and Anise Pruvot.
