BARWON Heads have chased down Anglesea to remain the only undefeated team in BPCA A1 Grade after two rounds.

The Roos finished on 9/140 after 40 overs, but Heads needed just 31 overs to match them thanks to an unbeaten 46 runs from Matthew Bode.

After losing last season’s Grand Final, Barwon Heads look set to be well in the race once again after two convincing victories to begin their campaign.

Inverleigh overcame reigning premiers Armstrong Creek to secure their first win since being promoted to A1 Grade this season.

After batting first, the Titans were unable to defend their total of 5/189, with an even batting effort from the Kookaburras seeing them chase the runs down in the 39th over. It appears Inverleigh will be no easy beat despite being the newcomers this season.

Jan Juc have had their first win of the season after Queenscliff were unable to chase down their total of 5/210.

A 95-run effort from Sharks opener Tom Kearney led the way in the victory, while Joey Rew and Oscar Crocker both took three wickets. Queenscliff are now the only winless side in the league.

Drysdale also secured their first victory, needing just 27 overs to chase down Barrabool’s total of 147.

Tallan Burns and Hayden Eddy finished the innings unbeaten for the Hawks, scoring 50 and 51 runs respectively. They also had six individual wicket-takers in the impressive win.

In A2 Grade, every side finishes the round with the same 1-1 record. Surf Coast beat Winchelsea, Ocean Grove beat St Leonards, Collendina beat Portarlington and Newcomb beat Wallington.
