ST JOSEPHS will look to get back to their winning ways against Leopold tomorrow (Saturday, August 2) at Herne Hill Reserve, after losing two straight and falling to second on the GFL ladder.
Joeys went down to Colac in Round 13, their third loss of the year, and consequently gave up top spot to Newtown & Chilwell by percentage.
With a game in hand, Joeys cannot afford to drop another or they could fall further down the ladder.
Meanwhile, the seventh-placed Lions also must win to remain in check with the top six. A win could see them jump to as high as fifth, but a loss will make their chances of a three-peat difficult with just over a month remaining in the season.
Bell Park will host the red-hot St Mary’s, in a match the Dragons must also win to stay in the hunt for the finals. However, the Saints have been in scintillating form, winning four in a row and most recently smashing Lara by 123 points.
New ladder leaders Newtown & Chilwell take on South Barwon at Jardon Oval, in another match that could shape the top five.
With the Swans only sitting fifth by two points thanks to a draw against Leopold, they must also win to avoid potentially being knocked down to sixth by the Dragons.
Lara will host Colac at Bisinella Oval, with the fourth-placed Tigers looking to take in their form from their upset against St Joeys in Round 13.
The improving St Albans can make it three wins from four games should they beat Grovedale at home.
Geelong West will host North Shore this Sunday, August 3 at West Oval.
