Lachi Marshall wins gold at state jiu-jitsu championships
TORQUAY teenager Lachi Marshall is in fighting trim, winning a gold medal in Brazilian jiu-jitsu at the state championships held in Melbourne over the weekend.
Lachi won in the no-gi medium heavy Juvenile 1 76 kg – the heaviest weight division – on Sunday at the Victorian Jiu Jitsu Championships, held at the Victorian Jiu Jitsu Championships.
He trains and is presently sponsored by Torquay gym Bones MMA through its MMA teen scholarship, as well as Torquay’s De Been 100% Jiu Jitsu in its National Junior Elite Team (JET) program.
A Junior Pan Pacs champ, Lachi is now looking forward to Nationals in a month.
“Hopefully the dedication, training and love of the sport will get me through the next stage, coming home with a national medal,” he said.
