Most footy, netball finals venues confirmed

AFL BARWON has confirmed most of the venues for this year’s finals series across its affiliated football and netball competitions in the Geelong region.

In the Bellarine Football Netball League, Grinter Reserve in Newcomb will be the host venue for both the Preliminary Finals and Grand Final, while Portarlington Recreation Reserve will again host the first two weeks of the BFNL finals.

Lara Recreation Reserve will host the Female Football Grand Finals, while St Joseph’s Football & Netball Club will again host the Junior Grand Finals, using both Drew Oval and Walker Oval at Herne Hill Reserve.

Junior boys’ finals competitions will be played across both Saturdays and Sundays, consistent with previous seasons.

The venues for the Geelong Football Netball League finals series are expected to be confirmed over the coming days.

AFL Barwon stated today (Tuesday, July 22) that the venue selection process was overseen by the AFL Barwon Commission and took into consideration a range of factors from the club submissions that were provided.

“All clubs were invited to submit an expression of interest, allowing for an open, inclusive, and transparent process.

“Hosting finals provides clubs with a unique opportunity to showcase their facilities, celebrate the hard work of volunteers, and bring the broader football and netball community together.”
