Philp wins BPCA1 Champion Player award
QUEENSCLIFF gun Lochie Philp has taken out the BPCA1 Champion Player award for the home and away season after an impressive individual campaign.
Calculated by general statistics such as runs and wickets, the Champion Player award is given to the player with the most points across the season.
In a tight top five, Philp edged out Drysdale’s Blake Dobbin to sit atop the leaderboard with 682 points.
Philp opened the batting all season for the Coutas and was often a catalyst in run chases that saw his side finish second on the ladder.
His top score came against Armstrong Creek, when he made a whopping 160 in a knock including 21 fours.
Dobbin finished second on 685 points, largely thanks to his 27 wickets – the equal second-most in the league.
However, he also had multiple batting cameos through the middle order, with his top score of 69 coming against Inverleigh.
Barwon Heads’ Daniel Donaldson finished third on 623 points, thanks to 22 wickets across the season.
Despite finishing on the bottom of the ladder, Inverleigh’s Lachlan Platt was a shining light in a disappointing season and finished in fourth with 603 points.
Platt made 403 runs, the fourth-most in the league, and added 17 catches as he took the gloves as a wicketkeeper.
Narrowly finishing in fifth was Anglesea’s Tyron Norman on 599 points.
