Queenscliff jump into second spot
QUEENSCLIFF have jumped into second on the BPCA1 ladder after securing their fifth straight win against Drysdale last weekend.
After dropping their first three matches to start the season, the Coutas have steadied to become one of the in-form sides in the competition.
A strong bowling effort in the first innings saw them hold the Hawks to just 8/147, before an unbeaten 50 runs from Kane Leathem helped them claim the win in the 37th over.
Drysdale’s loss sends them down to sixth.
Anglesea have overcome Armstrong Creek in a thriller to jump into the top four and send the reigning premiers down to second-last.
Debutant Harry Cook was the hero for the Roos, hitting the winning runs with a boundary on the second ball of the final over.
Barwon Heads travelled to Inverleigh and cruised to their eighth straight victory to remain undefeated.
The Seagulls skittled the Kookaburras for just 74 in the first innings, thanks to three wickets apiece from Daniel Donaldson and Angus Mackie.
They needed just 20 overs to reach the low target score, with Matthew Bode top scoring with 23 runs.
Barrabool have snared an unlikely win against Jan Juc to hop into fifth spot, despite an unbeaten ton by Sharks opener Nick Hyden.
The Bulls set themselves a target score of 188 and successfully chased it down with seven wickets in hand, thanks to Kane Pickering scoring 52 not out.
Jan Juc remain in the top four despite the loss.
This weekend will see another round of one day clashes, with Barwon Heads hosting Drysdale, Queenscliff hosting Inverleigh, Barrabool hosting Anglesea and Jan Juc hosting Armstrong Creek.
