THE Melbourne Renegades have will return to Geelong later this year with the Renegades’ BBL14 home opener to take place at GMHBA Stadium.

The Renegades will host Hobart Hurricanes on December 19 at 7.15pm in the first of the club’s five home games this season.

“We’re thrilled to open our BBL|14 season in Geelong, getting back in front of our passionate members and fans in the area was a huge priority for us and we’re super excited for that 19 December game at Kardinia Park against the Hurricanes,” Melbourne Renegades general manager James Rosengarten said.

“We love playing in Geelong – our efforts to establish a second home at Kardinia Park, showcase Big Bash cricket and build stronger connection with the grassroots cricket within the area is central to the Renegades’ mission.”

Last year’s rain-affected match stumped the club’s game in Geelong in 2023, but the Renegades remain excited to return to the region.

The Renegades have played 10 BBL games at GMHBA Stadium since January 2018.

Jake Fraser-McGurk is already locked in to start at the crease with new recruit and fellow power hitter Josh Brown at the top of the order.

“We pushed hard to host our first home game of the new season in Geelong and play in front of our passionate fan base,” Rosengarten said.

“Our fans in Geelong missed out last year and we want to make it a great show of cricket and entertainment on December 19.

“The Victorian government, City of Greater Geelong and the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust are imperative to making this all happen and we can’t thank them enough for their support as we gear up for another big season.”

The entire KFC BBL14 fixture will be released tomorrow (Friday, July 12).

Renegades memberships go on sale on Monday, July 15 with one-game Geelong and Geelong-and-Melbourne home game bundles available.
