SURFING legend Mick Fanning has announced the birth of his first child with fiancé Breeana Randall.

Fanning posted a photo of the newborn on Instagram with the caption “Hi, my name is Xander Dean Fanning and I came into the world on 10 August 2020 at 2.14pm. I’m extremely strong, healthy and calm all because of my beautiful Mama Breeana is a full on superhero.”

A three-time World Surfing League world champion, Fanning retired from professional surfing in 2018.

Fanning first caught the attention of the global surfing community on the Surf Coast when in 2001 he won the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach as a wildcard entry.

He would go on to win the event a record-equalling four times, the most by a male competitor alongside Kelly Slater and Mark Richards.

Now 39, Fanning resides on the Gold Coast.
