NEWTOWN & Chilwell’s impeccable season continued against Colac earlier today (Saturday, September 3), emerging victorious over the Tigers 51-45, securing a spot in an eighth-straight Grand Final.

Both sides traded blows early with little separation after the first quarter, before the Towners gained a decent first half lead, 27-21.

The Eagles stretched the lead further in the third, outscoring Colac by four goals to attain a double-digit margin with a quarter to play.

Colac fought bravely to salvage a result in the fourth, but to no avail with the final deficit settling on six goals.

Uneeq Palavi and Julia Wooley were superb in tandem collectively accounting for Newtown’s 51 goals, putting up 35 and 16 respectively.

Ruby Pekin-Schlicht, Geelong Cougar Vanessa Augustini and Danielle Mather all received best-on-court commendations for the Eagles.

Michelle and Bec Winch summed up Colac’s scoring. Michelle scoring 33 and Bec with 12.

Brooke Allan, Indya Forde and Eliza Cahill were nominated as Colac’s most impactful for the day.

Newtown & Chilwell hope to make it an eighth-straight premiership win in two weeks’ time, while Colac will need to bounce back in next Saturday’s (September 10) Preliminary Final.

The Tigers will face either South Barwon or Geelong West.
