GEELONG Venom has made another key signing ahead of their second season in the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL).

The league’s newest expansion side has signed former five-year Perth Lynx forward Mackenzie Clinch Hoycard for the coming campaign.

Clinch Hoycard is suiting up for the Warwick Senators in the NBL 1’s Western Conference and is averaging an impressive 15.14 points, 3 assists and 8.29 rebounds per game.

She said she looked forward to playing a super exciting and fun brand of basketball in Geelong.

“I’ll definitely bring some leadership and a bit of experience to the team having been in the league for a few years now.

“I’m really keen to get out there with all the girls and see what we can do for this season.”

Geelong Venom general manager of pathways Megan Moody said Clinch Hoycard is a high calibre athlete who will add a lot to the team on both ends of the floor.

“With her five years in the league, she brings great leadership to the squad.

“We will look to her to guide our younger talent both on and off the court throughout the coming season.”

Geelong’s 2025-2026 WNBL season begins on October 18 against the Sydney Flames at Geelong Arena.
