THE ISPS Handa Vic Open got under way this morning at 13th Beach Golf Links.
Last year’s winner of the women’s event Celine Boutier teed off just before 1pm, while reigning men’s winner David Law was among the first to take to the green early this morning.
One of the early starters and 2014 champion Matt Griffin began strongly with seven birdies for a score of 65. He is presently tied atop the standings with NSW golfers Travis Smyth and Justin Warren.
Haeji Kang and Madelene Sagstrom are on top of the women’s standings, also on 65 points each.
Attendance is high on the opening day, with CFA volunteers, emergency workers, Victorian golf club holders and children under 18 able to enter for free.
