{"id":100352,"date":"2024-07-18T04:00:05","date_gmt":"2024-07-17T18:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=100352"},"modified":"2024-07-17T16:21:17","modified_gmt":"2024-07-17T06:21:17","slug":"rspca-healthy-per-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/rspca-healthy-per-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Get your pet checked out for free"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>RSPCA Victoria will hold a Healthy Pet Day event next week in Norlane, where experts will provide free check-ups, dog and cat vaccines, pet food, and behavioural advice for local pet owners in need.<\/p>\n<p>RSPCA Victoria community outreach manager Dr Lauren Roberts said the Healthy Pet Days were a great way to provide your furry companions with vital health checks during the cost-of-living crisis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur expert animal care team provides vaccines, pet check-ups, microchipping, flea and worm treatment, along with behavioural advice, resources and pet food.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese services are completely free for local valid concession card holders and would normally cost over $150 all up per animal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to keep the local pets happy and healthy for years to come, and pet owners in need will have access to expert advice and the best possible service thanks to our friendly vets, vet nurses and animal behaviourists.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re delighted to run this event at the Norlane Community Centre and meet the locals and their furry friends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>RSPCA Victoria\u2019s Healthy Pet Days are possible thanks to funding from the Petbarn Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>With more than 280 animals helped over seven events already, the Healthy Pet Days have saved pet owners over $42,000 so far.<\/p>\n<p>Petbarn Foundation manager Janelle Bloxsom said the Healthy Pet Days could be vital for pet owners experiencing<br \/>\nfinancial strain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Petbarn Foundation is proud to support the RSPCA and help pet owners access free veterinary care, ensuring that pets stay healthy and families can stay together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>RSPCA partner Royal Canin is also generously providing take-home pet food for some residents.<\/p>\n<p>To use the free Healthy Pet Day services, attendees must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be 18 years old or over<\/li>\n<li>Be a valid concession or health care card holder (Commonwealth Seniors Health Card, Health Care card, Pensioner Concession Card), and<\/li>\n<li>Have proof of address in the City of Greater Geelong.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All cats attending the Healthy Pet Day must be in a secure carry cage, and dogs must be on a lead.<\/p>\n<p>Every animal requires a separate appointment to ensure they receive the care they need.<\/p>\n<p>Services at this event will not be provided to breeders or litter rearers.<\/p>\n<p>The Healthy Pet Day will be held at the Norlane Community Centre, 39 Rose Avenue, Norlane on Thursday, July 25 from 10am to 3pm.<\/p>\n<p>For more information or to book your pet&#8217;s appointment, head to <a href=\"http:\/\/rspcavic.org\/healthypet\">rspcavic.org\/healthypet<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RSPCA Victoria will hold a Healthy Pet Day event next week in Norlane, where experts will provide free check-ups, dog and cat vaccines, pet food, and behavioural advice for local pet owners in need.
