THE inaugural Health Festival of Geelong was held on Saturday, providing valuable healthcare information to the region.<\/p>\n

Geelong West Town Hall hosted the event, at which local health providers and supporting organisations came together to share their knowledge.<\/p>\n

Festival organiser Dr Jenny Huang said those who attended the event found it empowering and invigorating to learn.<\/p>\n

“We humans have a tendency to want to learn and it’s just about trying to navigate the right sources,” Dr Huang said.<\/p>\n

The festival was all about bringing people together to bridge the gap between healthcare and the providers.<\/p>\n

Workshops and presentations provided a space for people to learn about and understand their options when it comes to healthcare.<\/p>\n

“When there is that direct engagement and communication, where the community feels like they’re linking with each other, that becomes even more powerful,” Dr Huang said.<\/p>\n

“Even the clinicians found themselves connecting to others they hadn’t come across before and it was a really enriching experience for those who were there.”<\/p>\n

Dr Huang was happy with the turnout on the day, and said attendees loved the opportunity to be able to have conversations throughout the whole event.<\/p>\n

“I did achieve what I wanted to achieve and that’s everyone pulling together to help one another, and I absolutely loved everyone’s belief in what we’re all wanting to do,” she said.<\/p>\n

Dr Huang said she was looking at how to expand the event, with plans to return next year and the possibility of introducing a theme aimed at the younger generation.<\/p>\n
