CADETS from the Royal Geelong Yacht Club (RGYC) have reigned supreme on the water and brought home the gold from the world championship competition in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

The club’s cadet team battled strongly against the globe’s best young sailors last week in Plymouth, England in the ABP Cadet Class World Championship.<\/p>\n

Leading the charge was Josh Garner and Jack Benyan, who solidified their status as stars of the future by clinching the world title.<\/p>\n

Their efforts to navigate the challenges of British waters with resilience and skill saw them cross the line well ahead of their closest competitors.<\/p>\n

Joining them on the podium were fellow Australians Sam Hooper and Thomas Pitt, who finished third.<\/p>\n

Geelong’s Cate McCoy and Will Garner rounded out the top 10 placings, while Will Farnell and Louis Davis finished 15th thanks to a strong comeback in the dying stages of racing.<\/p>\n

The Royal Geelong Yacht Club stated the future of local sailing was very bright.<\/p>\n

“The RGYC community is immensely proud of each sailor’s contributions and looks forward to their continued success in the sailing world,” a spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

“From the dedicated coaching staff to the supportive parents and team managers, everyone played a crucial role in this achievement.<\/p>\n

“The memories and experiences gained from this championship will undoubtedly stay with our sailors as they continue their journey in the sport.”<\/p>\n
