VOTERS in central and northern Geelong will be part of a new ward structure at this year’s local council election, with the city now comprising 11 wards with one councillor each.<\/p>\n

The eight wards in the municipality’s centre and west also all have new names, taken from their localities or prominent geographic features.<\/p>\n

They are (with the number of electors as of March 2023):<\/p>\n

You Yangs Ward (formerly part of Windermere Ward) \u2013 689sqkm, with 17,845 electors, a deviation of 7.57 less than the average<\/p>\n

Hamlyn Heights Ward (formerly part of Brownbill Ward) \u2013 15sqkm, with 18,630 electors, 3.5 per cent less than the average<\/p>\n

Corio Ward (formerly part of Windermere Ward) \u2013 21sqkm, with 19,519 electors, 1.1 per cent more than the average<\/p>\n

Barrabool Hills Ward (formerly part of Kardinia Ward) \u2013 27sqkm, with 20,336 electors, 5.33 per cent more than the average<\/p>\n

Kardinia Ward (formerly part of Brownbill Ward) \u2013 15sqkm, with 19,421 electors, 0.59 per cent more than the average<\/p>\n

Deakin Ward (formerly part of Kardinia Ward) \u2013 53sqkm, with 19,669 electors, 1.88 per cent more than the average<\/p>\n

Charlemont Ward (formerly part of Kardinia Ward) \u2013 38sqkm, with 17,790 electors, 7.85 per cent less than the average, and<\/p>\n

Cheetham Ward (formerly part of Brownbill Ward and Bellarine Ward) \u2013 53sqkm, with 19,224 electors, 0.43 per cent less than the average.<\/p>\n

Voting in this election is by post only.<\/p>\n

The Victorian Electoral Commission will post ballot packs to all enrolled voters from October 7.<\/p>\n

A ballot paper<\/p>\n

Candidate statements<\/p>\n

A ballot paper envelope (for your vote to go in)<\/p>\n

A reply-paid envelope (for your ballot paper envelope to go in), and<\/p>\n

A leaflet with instructions in other languages.<\/p>\n

Follow the instructions in your ballot pack to complete your vote.<\/p>\n

Make sure you post it or drop it off at the election office before 6pm on October 25. Local mail collection times differ, so Check the collection time on your post box to make sure your vote is in the mail on time.<\/p>\n

If you are going to be away between October 7 and October 25, you may still be able to vote.<\/p>\n
