{"id":104397,"date":"2024-09-24T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-09-23T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=104397"},"modified":"2024-09-25T10:50:16","modified_gmt":"2024-09-25T00:50:16","slug":"photos-sought-for-citys-2025-calendar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/photos-sought-for-citys-2025-calendar\/","title":{"rendered":"Photos sought for city&#8217;s 2025 calendar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE City of Greater Geelong is inviting photographers from across Geelong to submit their photos for a chance to feature on the cover of the 2025 City of Greater Geelong calendar.<\/p>\n<p>Amateur and professional photographers of all ages are encouraged to get creative and submit an entry which shows the best of the region.<\/p>\n<p>The city says it wants to see Greater Geelong through the community&#8217;s creativity and fresh eyes, taking in diverse perspectives of Geelong&#8217;s story, identity and natural environment.<\/p>\n<p>The images will be shortlisted, and the public will vote on the final two photos to determine the calendar&#8217;s cover photo.<\/p>\n<p>Last year&#8217;s calendar received more than 530 submissions, with more than 15,000 people voting to decide the winners.<\/p>\n<p>Based on customer feedback and in a move aimed at reducing waste and managing our finances wisely, calendars will be distributed differently this year to those who would like one.<\/p>\n<p>Community members will be able to collect a calendar from one of the city&#8217;s customer service centres, located at:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wurriki Nyal \u2013 137-149 Mercer Street, Geelong<\/li>\n<li>Corio Shopping Centre \u2013 Corner Bacchus Marsh and Purnell Roads, and<\/li>\n<li>Boronggook Drysdale Library \u2013 2-8 Wyndham Street, Drysdale.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Residents unable to collect a calendar from one of the city&#8217;s customer service centres will be able to register in advance via phone or an online form to receive one by mail.<\/p>\n<p>Geelong mayor Trent Sullivan said the competition would get the community involved in showcasing their favourite parts of the region.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Each year, we get the chance to see Greater Geelong through the lens of its residents, showing how diverse and unique our region is.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our annual calendar photography competition is popular with the community and encourages residents with a passion for photography to celebrate what makes Greater Geelong special.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cr Melissa Cadwell said there was so much to capture in Geelong and its surroundings.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a wonderful opportunity for residents to share what they love most about Geelong.
