SAFER and more reliable travel is on the way for local drivers, cyclists and walkers with the green light given to stage two of a major road project.<\/p>\n

Stage two of the Barwon Heads Road Upgrade will start in early 2025 and improve travel safety, reliability and connectivity.<\/p>\n

The $250 million project will add extra lanes, upgrade intersections and build shared walking and cycling paths between Charlemont and Armstrong Creek.<\/p>\n

The upgrade will help Barwon Heads Road cater for up to 35,000 daily journeys by 2036.<\/p>\n

Corangamite federal member Libby Coker said excitement was building for stage two to begin.<\/p>\n

“Safer, quicker commutes are what people in our rapidly growing region are calling for, so I’m pleased Stage 2 is about to get underway \u2013 the upgrades are going to make people’s lives easier.”<\/p>\n

Bellarine MP Alison Marchant said the second stage of works on the Barwon Heads Road Upgrade would improve connectivity and safety for all road users.<\/p>\n

Minister for Transport Infrastructure Danny Pearson said the early works will begin in early 2025, followed my major construction in late 2025.<\/p>\n
