GEELONGPORT is celebrating a five-star environmental, social and governance (ESG) rating for the fourth consecutive year.<\/p>\n
The port received a score of 97 out of 100 from GRESB \u2013 the leading global ESG benchmark \u2013 and was awarded first place globally for bulk ports that provide maintenance and operations support.<\/p>\n
GeelongPort also placed in the top 20 per cent of all GRESB entities worldwide. Previously known as the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark, GRESB provides systematic reporting, objective scoring and peer benchmarking of the ESG of infrastructure assets around the world.<\/p>\n
This year the assessment included 720 assets spanning 81 countries, with only 20 per cent able to receive a five-star rating.<\/p>\n
GeelongPort chief executive Brett Winter said he was thrilled to see the port continue to rate highly within the GRESB program.<\/p>\n
“A fourth consecutive five-star GRESB rating demonstrates GeelongPort’s strong and ongoing commitment to ESG leadership,” he said.<\/p>\n
“I’m proud of the way the GeelongPort team continues to adapt and evolve our ESG practices to ensure we remain in this space and support our vision of being Australia’s most sustainable port.”<\/p>\n
The port’s key ESG actions for the year have included launching a reconciliation plan, implementing ESG targets across its workforce and supporting the renewable energy sector by facilitating the delivery of 650,000 tonnes of wind turbine infrastructure. GRESB chief executive Sebastien Roussotte said the GRESB Benchmark served as a powerful reminder to all industries of the positive impact of focused sustainability efforts.<\/p>\n
“The results of this year’s GRESB assessments are a testament to the progress being made across the sector,” he said.<\/p>\n
“It’s clear our participants are helping set new standards in sustainability.<\/p>\n
