LOCALS have the opportunity to share their opinions about the state of roads around the Armstrong Creek Growth area with the launch of a new Survey.<\/p>\n

Corangamite federal member Libby Coker is behind the Armstrong Creek Local Road Survey, which aims to identify roads of concern.<\/p>\n

Potholes, road closures and unsafe roads are the focus, with many of Ms Coker’s constituents contacting her office to express their concerns about local roads.<\/p>\n

Ms Coker said some residents feel a sense of entrapment in their suburbs and “rat runs” are occurring in the region due to several road closures.<\/p>\n

“I’ve written to the City of Greater Geelong, raising my concerns and the frustration of my communities across Armstrong Creek, Charlemont and Mount Duneed.<\/p>\n

“The city have an important role to play in making sure locals feel safe on the roads, students have the footpaths they need to walk to school, and emergency service providers can easily access some of the new estates built over the last few years.”<\/p>\n

The survey launch follows on from the earlier $4.4 billion announcement from the Albanese Government with funds available under the Roads to Recovery program over the next five years.<\/p>\n

“The funding increase will allow local governments to plan for the long-term maintenance and upgrade of their road network, shielding critical road safety measures from the uncertainty of budget cycles,” Ms Coker said.<\/p>\n

The program supports local road construction and maintenance by local government, providing funding for potholes and pavements to be repaired and culverts to be installed.<\/p>\n

Concerns around local roads were also raised at a recent Armstrong Creek Community Safety and Crime Prevention (CSCP) meeting, chaired by Ms Coker.<\/p>\n
