THE Geelong Cats have their sights firmly set on the AFL National Draft and have flagged the potential of moving around picks if necessary.<\/p>\n
As it stands, the Cats will take picks 45, 57 and 75 into the draft, which will be held on November 20 and November 21.<\/p>\n
Geelong general manager of football Andrew Mackie said the club would look at all sorts of ways to improve their list through future pick swaps and trades.<\/p>\n
“Our recruiters do a power of work, and it is peak season for them now, the guys are covering off a lot of interviews. We are looking forward to that information coming back and where they see the selections.<\/p>\n
“We might move some future picks into this year, we are open-minded to what that looks like.<\/p>\n
“That will be guided by Stephen Wells and his team, seeing the draft board forming and we will work through what that looks like over the next month.”<\/p>\n
The Cats are also likely to execute a move this month to sign utility Jack Martin a delisted free agent.<\/p>\n
Martin has played 151 AFL games across 11 seasons at Carlton and Gold Coast.<\/p>\n
“Jack has been around for a while now and he has some experience, we are excited to get him down here,” Mackie said.<\/p>\n
“The work from here is just put all our team around him and like we do with every player, try to explore ways that we can get the best out of him.<\/p>\n
“He is a great person, going to be great for our group and we are looking forward to what that can potentially be.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
