Geelong head coach Chris Lucas said it was a disappointing outcome in the club\u2019s first match.<\/p>\n
“We have to take as much out of it as we can. It was a huge learning curve for the girls who haven\u2019t played WNBL and how tough the league is.<\/p>\n
“Townsville took our game away and we weren\u2019t able to play against their physicality.<\/p>\n
“We know this year will be a challenge, and we are keen to find out what pieces work for us in the near future.”<\/p>\n
He praised his captain for fighting hard for the home team.<\/p>\n
“I thought Keely battled really well, but there was no one else who really stood out for us tonight.<\/p>\n
“Gelling a new team takes time. We\u2019ve only had girls like Haley Jones with us for one week.<\/p>\n
“Tonight\u2019s game wasn\u2019t our identity. It\u2019s disappointing. Maybe we got caught up in the moment, but we will learn a lot.”<\/p>\n
