{"id":106540,"date":"2024-11-02T04:00:49","date_gmt":"2024-11-01T17:00:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=106540"},"modified":"2024-10-31T16:47:54","modified_gmt":"2024-10-31T05:47:54","slug":"lions-car-show-draws-big-crowd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/lions-car-show-draws-big-crowd\/","title":{"rendered":"Lions Car Show draws big crowd"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>IT WAS a record-breaking day at Pirra Homestead for the Lara Lions charity Car Show on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>More than 350 vehicles lined the grounds of the Lara venue for the annual event, up from the 140 vehicles that participated last year.<\/p>\n<p>Cars and motorcycles of all makes and models were invited to attend the motoring day, with a range of classic and modern cars heading along.<\/p>\n<p>Lara Lions member Maryanne Mullahy said it was an awesome event and organisers were thrilled with\u00a0the turnout.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There was no way we could ever have estimated how big it was going to be.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We were truly astonished by the record-breaking turnout of car and motorcycle enthusiasts who came together to celebrate their passions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_106542\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-106542\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-106542 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2024\/10\/CarShow3_51158.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"314\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-106542\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cars of all makes and models were on display throughout the event.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms Mullahy said the weather was perfect for the event, adding to the unforgettable atmosphere of the day and creating a strong sense of community.<\/p>\n<p>Money from the show will be split between charity partner Outpost, Lions projects and the shows return next year, with the final fundraising tally still being calculated.<\/p>\n<p>The Car Show has been running since 2013 and this year had the goal of hosting its biggest one yet, made possible by the car enthusiasts.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This incredible success is all thanks to the passionate Victorian car and motorcycle community,&#8221; Ms Mullahy said.<\/p>\n<p>The Lions Club is now looking at all the feedback from the event for how they can improve it next year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>IT WAS a record-breaking day at Pirra Homestead for the Lara Lions charity Car Show on Sunday.
