St Joseph’s College Geelong welcomed Liverpool FC international academy manager Daniel Gavin to its grounds last week to observe the delivery of its world regarded youth soccer program.<\/p>\n

The esteemed international coach ran a series of workshops with pupils, teachers and coaches from the Geelong institution and St Patrick’s College Ballarat.<\/p>\n

The Liverpool FC International Academy aims to foster player development through ambition, commitment, dignity and unity.<\/p>\n

The program involves the same coaching curriculum and techniques used by the soccer giant with its own young players at the academy in Liverpool.<\/p>\n

St Joseph’s College Geelong was the first Victorian regional school to partner with the academy.<\/p>\n

Principal Tony Paatsch said Mr Gavin’s visit was a welcomed sight.<\/p>\n

“It’s proving to be a terrific partnership for us and has improved the quality of both our physical education program and certainly the soccer experience students here are having.<\/p>\n

“It was fantastic to have Daniel down. To bring someone in who is involved at the heart of it in Liverpool is such a great opportunity for students and teachers.<\/p>\n

“We hope he and other high-profile people from Liverpool will come out here in the future and continue their great work.”<\/p>\n

Liverpool FC International Academy Australia general manager Rob Davey said the visit to Geelong will help to grow the game even more in the region.<\/p>\n

“Our partnership with Liverpool FC is about connecting the club to community whether that be in the UK, Australia or elsewhere in the world.<\/p>\n

“It is integral therefore that we are able to connect the club directly to our partner schools and the communities they serve.<\/p>\n

“Having Daniel visit demonstrated the focus and passion that the club has in realising that connection.”<\/p>\n
