{"id":106893,"date":"2024-11-09T17:07:09","date_gmt":"2024-11-09T06:07:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=106893"},"modified":"2024-11-09T18:13:08","modified_gmt":"2024-11-09T07:13:08","slug":"geelong-council-provisional","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/geelong-council-provisional\/","title":{"rendered":"Geelong councillors provisionally elected"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE new City of Greater Geelong council has taken shape, with councillors provisionally elected earlier today (Saturday, November 9).<\/p>\n<p>The Victorian Electoral Commission has calculated the results in this year&#8217;s local council election for each of Geelong&#8217;s 11 single-member wards.<\/p>\n<p>Six incumbent councillors were re-elected.<\/p>\n<p>Councillors will not be formally elected under the VEC officially declares the results, which will be held at Geelong&#8217;s City Hall on Tuesday, November 12.<\/p>\n<p>The successful candidates are below, listed alphabetically by ward name:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Barrabool Hills Ward &#8211; Ron Nelson, with 51.67 of first preference votes<\/li>\n<li>Charlemont Ward &#8211; Emma Sinclair, with 20.87 per cent of first preference votes<\/li>\n<li>Cheetham Ward &#8211; Melissa Cadwell, with 45.26 per cent of first preference votes<\/li>\n<li>Connewarre Ward: Elise Wilkinson, with 50.02 of first preference votes<\/li>\n<li>Corio Ward &#8211; Anthony Aitken, with 48.19 per cent of first preference votes<\/li>\n<li>Deakin Ward &#8211; Andrew Katos, with 28.01 per cent of first preference votes<\/li>\n<li>Hamlyn Heights &#8211; Eddy Kontelj, with 45.69 per cent of first preference votes<\/li>\n<li>Kardinia &#8211; Stretch Kontelj, with 28.18 per cent of first preference votes<\/li>\n<li>Leopold Ward &#8211; Trent Sullivan, with 56.21 per cent of first preference votes, and<\/li>\n<li>Murradoc Ward &#8211; Rowan D.
