BARWON HEALTH is this month encouraging the local workforce to “Spring into Action”, with a campaign aimed at getting the community moving.<\/p>\n

The healthcare provider has teamed up with about 25 gymnasiums, personal trainers and local businesses around the region to offer discounted access a range of fun and physical activities throughout November.<\/p>\n

Those interested in taking up the offer will be able to choose from a wide variety of activities, including boxing, rock climbing, yoga, ballroom dancing and forest walking.<\/p>\n

The Spring into Action campaign is a collaboration between Barwon Health’s healthy communities unit, the City of Greater Geelong, the Department of Justice and Community Safety and Active Geelong.<\/p>\n

Owen Pietsch, co-manager of the healthy communities unit, said inclusivity and equity had been prioritised throughout the initiative’s planning process.<\/p>\n

“Participants can easily find more information about activities with access to childcare, disability and support-friendly options, women-only programs, LGBTIQA+ inclusive spaces and support for seniors,” he said.<\/p>\n

“Participating in Spring into Action provides multiple benefits, including improved physical health, better mental wellbeing and the opportunity to strengthen community connections.”<\/p>\n

Mr Pietsch encouraged local employees to take advantage of the initiative.<\/p>\n

“Whether you participate on your own, with colleagues or friends, now is the time to explore new activities and embrace a healthier lifestyle together.”<\/p>\n
