A NEWTOWN & Chilwell junior headlines a 28-man squad selected in the 2025 Marsh AFL National Academy.<\/p>\n
17-year-old rebounding defender Josh Lindsay will join players from across the country in their pursuit of earning an AFL list spot this time next year.<\/p>\n
Lindsay enters the program in fantastic form, having been awarded the best player medal for Team Heppell in the 2024 Marsh AFL Futures match in September.<\/p>\n
The 17-year-old had 20 disposals, seven marks and three rebound 50s to clinch the top honour in what was the curtain-raiser to the 2024 AFL Grand Final.<\/p>\n
Lindsay played for Victoria Country in the U\/16 age group last season and made seven appearances for the Geelong Falcons in 2024.<\/p>\n
His Falcons team-mate and Colac Tigers player Ben Rongdit has also been selected in the squad.<\/p>\n
Rongdit only managed one game during the 2024 season due to injury.<\/p>\n
The defender is a Geelong academy prospect and is eligible for next generation selection by the club.<\/p>\n
The Marsh AFL National Academy will provide both players with a holistic program combining football and personal development.<\/p>\n
A high-performance camp will be held in Melbourne next month.<\/p>\n
Two other camps will be held during 2025 including talent showcase matches, where the Academy squads will represent their country as the Australia U18 team.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
