As Geelong prepares for a big weekend of events and scorching temperatures, locals and visitors are being encouraged to make alternative arrangements with road closures set to impact access to Eastern Beach from today (Friday, November 22).<\/p>\n

The annual Geelong Revival Motoring Festival will begin this evening and wrap up on Sunday, with more than 1,000 vehicles expected to descend on Geelong\u2019s Waterfront for the three-day event.<\/p>\n

Access to the beach will be impacted during this time and there will be limited space on the grass at Eastern Beach Reserve available to the public.<\/p>\n

Road closures will also be in place to accommodate the event, with several roads affected.<\/p>\n

Both Eastern Beach Road between Moorabool Street and Steampacket Place, and Yarra Street between Brougham Street and Eastern Beach Road, will be closed until 6pm this evening, and then again on Saturday and Sunday between 6am and 7pm.<\/p>\n

Brougham Street between Bellarine and Yarra streets will similarly be closed to traffic on Saturday and Sunday between the hours of 6am and 7pm, while Bellarine Street between Eastern Beach Road and Brougham Street will remain closed until Tuesday, November 26.<\/p>\n

Eastern Beach Road between Yarra Street and Steampacket Place will also be impacted, with vehicle access restricted until after 6pm on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Eastern Beach Road between Bellarine and Yarra streets will be closed to traffic until Tuesday and Ritchie Boulevard will not reopen to traffic until Wednesday, November 27.<\/p>\n

Residents are also advised there is expected to be an increase in noise on Saturday and Sunday as a result of the motoring festival.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, race one of the Geelong Cycling Club Summer Series will also take place at Eastern Park, with the Eastern Park Circuit and Hearne Parade between Garden Street and Limeburners Boat Ramp closed from 7am to 11.30am.<\/p>\n

City of Greater Geelong chief executive Ali Wastie asked residents and visitors to be mindful of the road access changes over the coming days, particularly with the weather forecast to reach 34 degrees today and 36 degrees tomorrow.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur region is fortunate to host world-class events and with the warmer weather arriving, the events calendar is ramping up,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re expecting thousands of revheads and cycling enthusiasts to descend on the Waterfront for Geelong Revival Motoring Festival and the Geelong Cycling Club Summer Series this weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe ask the community to respect the events staff and those working the road closures, and to drive to the conditions.<\/p>\n
