THE organisation behind the Royal Geelong Show is one of 34 agricultural and pastoral societies that will receive a Victorian government grant.<\/p>\n
Royal Geelong and Agricultural and Pastoral Societies received $7,909 to build a new boundary fence, along the western side of the central area, to improve safety.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis Agricultural and Pastoral Society grant will provide valuable support to Geelong Royal Show and help ensure that Geelong locals and visitors can continue to enjoy our local show for many years to come.,\u201d Geelong MP Christine Couzens said today (Wednesday, December 4).<\/p>\n
The grants program helps boost rural and regional economies, promoting the agricultural sector and fostering community engagement, with program funding totalling $300,000.<\/p>\n
Previous funding has seen projects including new animal yards, fencing, shade covers and lighting up-grades to shearing pavilions, luncheon halls, public amenities and viewing stands.<\/p>\n
The Victorian government made the funding available under the Agricultural and Pastoral Society Grants Program, to run the state\u2019s regional show program.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Agricultural and Pastoral Society grant program is all about empowering the organisations that know their regions best to showcase the very best of their region,\u201d Minister for Agriculture Ros Spence said.<\/p>\n
Funding was available to support agricultural and pastoral societies in stimulating community involvement across Victoria in activities that promote agriculture.<\/p>\n
Societies applying for the grants were eligible for up to $10,000 to be used towards infrastructure, development and other business activities to celebrate Victoria\u2019s agricultural communities, industry and produce.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
