MORE than 750 athletes will vie for state honours this weekend at two surf lifesaving carnivals at Ocean Grove.<\/p>\n

The first event of the LSV junior schedule will take place today (Saturday, December 7) before the senior age groups take to the water tomorrow (Sunday, December 8).<\/p>\n

Competitors from all over the state are slated to appear, including local athletes from Ocean Grove, Jan Juc, Torquay, Barwon Heads 13th Beach and Point Lonsdale.<\/p>\n

The event will feature more than 750 athletes from all over the state.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

LSV summer of sport co-ordinator Tim Watson said it was sure to be a bumper weekend on the beach.<\/p>\n

“We have 535 nipper competitors from 19 clubs across the state from U8-U13 age groups competing in beach, water and R&R events on Saturday, then we back it up on the Sunday with the second youth senior carnival where 261 competitors from 19 clubs will battle it out.<\/p>\n

“It should be an action-packed weekend of racing. We can’t wait.”<\/p>\n

Torquay’s Cosy Corner is the backup location for both surf carnival events.<\/p>\n
