The second level will feature a social space capable of seating 120 people, a meeting room and kitchen, with seating on the terrace for 80 people overlooking both pitches.<\/p>\n
Its location will give players on both of the pitches equal access to change rooms and amenities, and will improve spectator viewing.<\/p>\n
The design of the venue’s western pitch includes new fencing, drainage, an electronic scoreboard and sports lighting to ensure it can host a range of activities and events including national-level hockey.<\/p>\n
Additional parking, including accessible parking along a new access road, will maximise access and use of the venue.<\/p>\n
The redevelopment of Stead Park is one of five Geelong region projects in the Geelong Sports Package, which is being rolled out by the Victorian government following its cancellation of the Commonwealth Games.<\/p>\n
Mr Dent said works would start in the third quarter of 2025 and were expected to be complete by the third quarter of 2026.<\/p>\n
“This is the biggest investment in hockey since the sport commenced in 1912. Exciting times await us all.”<\/p>\n
