CLASSIC trucks, tractors, cars and more will roll into the Geelong Showgrounds from Saturday, January 11, as the Geelong Classic Truck and Machinery Show returns.<\/p>\n

Run by the vintage machinery section of the Royal Geelong Agricultural Pastoral Society, the show runs across two days featuring displays and demonstrations.<\/p>\n

Those heading along can expect a mountain of entertainment with vintage cars from local and distant clubs and remote-control truck displays through to the boiler house in full operation and more.<\/p>\n

Committee member Angela Reynolds said the show is a great opportunity for people to see what sort of hobbies exist.<\/p>\n

“We’ve got a whole heap of likeminded clubs that all come and have a chance to display on the weekend.<\/p>\n

“Not only does that make the event really great for people to come and see, it’s also a great chance for those clubs to actually gain new members and display what they do.”<\/p>\n

The show provides entertainment for all ages with a range of displays and working machinery.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

This year’s event will also have a focus on Chamberlain Tractors, designed and built for Australian conditions, with some still found being used daily on farms today.<\/p>\n

More particular clubs including the Model Aircraft Association, Military Reenactment group, local Model Aircraft Association and more will also be in attendance.<\/p>\n

Ms Reynolds said one of the main attractions for the event is the tractor pull.<\/p>\n

“Lots of people like to sit and watch the tractors get put through their paces on the tractor pull sled.<\/p>\n

“The B-24 Liberator engine display from Werribee is always a crowd favourite as well, when they start that engine up and these are classic things that are with us every year, but they’re always crowd favourites.”<\/p>\n

Event organisers hope the show creates the next generation of enthusiasts.<\/p>\n

“We really pride ourselves on giving people a cheap, family day out for anyone in the family, both young and old,” Ms Reynolds said.<\/p>\n

“We hope that people can come along, talk about what they see, see some interesting things and hopefully perhaps ignite a passion or an interest in a particular hobby.”<\/p>\n

The show will run from 9am until 5pm tomorrow and reopen from 9am until 4pm on Sunday, January 12.<\/p>\n
