Under 15s cricketers from St Joseph’s Cricket Club will this month undertake an immersion trip to New Zealand to get their eyes on the game across the ditch.<\/p>\n
More than two dozen players and their parents will take a tour of some of Auckland’s top cricket teams including Kumeua and Howick Pakaranga for 10 days.<\/p>\n
The teams will play a minimum of six matches with their Kiwi friends.<\/p>\n
During the immersion, the 25-strong group will also travel to Rotorua and visit Tamiki Maori Village to learn about Maori culture and traditions.<\/p>\n
The $120,000 cost of the trip has been mostly fundraised via sponsorships, raffles, trivia nights, barbecues and meal nights over the past ten months.<\/p>\n
Travelling parent John Watts said it’s been a big build up to the tour.<\/p>\n
“I am not sure who is more excited the parents or the junior players.<\/p>\n
