{"id":110338,"date":"2025-02-07T10:11:38","date_gmt":"2025-02-06T23:11:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=110338"},"modified":"2025-02-07T10:15:38","modified_gmt":"2025-02-06T23:15:38","slug":"kt-wiz-baseball-open-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/kt-wiz-baseball-open-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Meet KT Wiz players at community baseball day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE community can get up close and personal with Korean baseball team KT Wiz and welcome the players to the City of Greater Geelong this Sunday, February 9.<\/p>\n<p>The city will hold an open day at the Geelong Baseball Centre in Waurn Ponds as part of KT Wiz\u2019s six-week summer training camp at the facility.<\/p>\n<p>Competing in the Korean Baseball Organisation premier league, this elite team is presently ranked in the top five and won the Korean Series in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>To run from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday, the open day will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A fun and informal skills session with KT Wiz players, including short interactive drills with junior players from 3pm to 4pm<\/li>\n<li>An autograph and photo session from 3.45pm to 4pm<\/li>\n<li>Answer a baseball trivia question to enter the raffle to win General Admission family pass tickets (two adults and two children) for the KT Wiz vs Melbourne Aces game at Melbourne Ballpark on February 21<\/li>\n<li>DJ playing K-Pop v Top 40 hits<\/li>\n<li>Photo booth with KT Wiz and City of Greater Geelong branded baseball cards, and<\/li>\n<li>Canteen food and drinks available<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj said the city was looking forward to celebrating all things baseball, which had long been a popular sport in the region for people of all ages.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_110340\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-110340\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-110340\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2025\/02\/kt-wiz-cropped-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2025\/02\/kt-wiz-cropped-2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2025\/02\/kt-wiz-cropped-2-300x190.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-110340\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">KT Wiz players are in the middle of a six-week training camp at the Geelong Baseball Centre.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe are so excited to have KT Wiz training in Geelong this summer as part of a Memorandum of Understanding between Council, local baseball clubs and the Melbourne Aces.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis new partnership is providing lasting benefits for the local baseball community and our economy, including providing Greater Geelong with further exposure in Korea.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJoin our community day with KT Wiz while they call Geelong home for the summer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cr Eddy Kontelj invited baseball fans and the broader community to a family-friendly afternoon of fun.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a fantastic opportunity to watch your favourite player, get tips from the professionals and get to know KT Wiz,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can learn from the best during the informal skills session, score a selfie with a player, win a prize, enjoy K-Pop and get memorabilia signed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Geelong Baseball Centre is in Pioneer Road (next to Leisurelink), Grovedale.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE community can get up close and personal with Korean baseball team KT Wiz and welcome the players to the City of Greater Geelong this Sunday, February 9.
