Photo: ELLIE CLARINGBOLD<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Geelong Sustainability program co-ordinator Karina Donkers praised the &#8220;amazing community response&#8221; to what she labelled a &#8220;deeply concerning issue&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have come here today because our beautiful bay, our community and our future are under threat,&#8221; she said during the rally.<\/p>\n<p>She pointed to community concerns about air pollution (&#8220;There is no safe level&#8221;), the potential impact of the terminal on local tourism and recreation, the environmental effects &#8220;significant dredging&#8221; may have on the bay and its marine life, and the safety of the more than 30,000 residents living &#8220;within the incident zone&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2025\/02\/DSC04700_58468.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The enthusiastic and determined crowd chanted \u201cNo way, not in our bay\u201d and \u201cYes to renewables\u201d as they formed the &#8220;human sign&#8221;.
