AUSTISM Awareness Australia (AAA) has released its first national survey in 10 years, and is seeking feedback from parents and carers of children and young adults on the autism spectrum.<\/p>\n

The peak body is encouraging parents and carers to complete the survey and provide feedback on the key challenges they are facing now.<\/p>\n

AAA chief executive officer Nicole Rogerson said the survey would play a critical role in helping the peak body advocate for the needs of autism families across Australia.<\/p>\n

“It’s no secret that the autism community is up against some significant reform in the coming months.<\/p>\n

“This is chiefly driven by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) changes that are coming down the pipeline, and the anxiety our community is feeling about being left behind.”<\/p>\n

She said the survey was an opportunity for parents and caregivers of children and young adults with autism to have their say, share their key concerns, and help AAA advocate for the right reforms.<\/p>\n

“It’s been 10 years since our last survey, which garnered around 1,500 responses, and we’re hoping to increase that even more this year.<\/p>\n

“We will take our community’s feedback and formulate that into a sensible set of policy recommendations for both the Commonwealth and state governments to consider.<\/p>\n

“All responses are anonymous and we encourage our community to be as open and honest as possible.”<\/p>\n
