{"id":112215,"date":"2025-03-16T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-03-15T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=112215"},"modified":"2025-03-16T11:07:49","modified_gmt":"2025-03-16T00:07:49","slug":"trio-re-sign-for-united","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/sport\/trio-re-sign-for-united\/","title":{"rendered":"Trio re-sign for United"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A TRIO of Geelong United players have re-signed for the 2025 NBL1 South season.<\/p>\n<p>Owen Odogie, Marach Marach and Liam Herbert have all put pen to paper in the last fortnight.<\/p>\n<p>Odogie is looking to put an injury riddled 2024 behind him in this upcoming campaign.<\/p>\n<p>The guard is looking to build on the form he showed last year after returning from a month-long injury.<\/p>\n<p>In his 12 outings last year, the guard averaged 5.83 points, 1.33 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game.<\/p>\n<p>This included a 14-point effort against Waverley at home in the team&#8217;s last home game.<\/p>\n<p>He said he was excited for the season to get underway.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2025\/03\/EthanCunninghamPhoto_53126.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"902\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Owen Odogie has re-signed for Geelong United. Photos: ETHAN CUNNINGHAM PHOTOGRAPHY<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve got most of the core guys coming back, along with a few new additions who add a lot of value to the team.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m eager to see us all gel together and build up to what should be a fun season.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Joining Odogie in United colours again in 2025 will be Marach Marach.<\/p>\n<p>Expected to play a bigger role with the side this season, Marach will be looking to show off his vertical leap on both ends of the floor.<\/p>\n<p>He suited up in 22 of 23 games last season.<\/p>\n<p>His best effort came in the teams opening game of the season against Ballarat with 12 points and 5 rebounds.<\/p>\n<p>With the team making an elimination final last year, Marach said he expected United to go even further in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m super excited to be continuing with Geelong for the upcoming season,&#8221; Marach said<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve got a lot of talent on the squad and a great group of guys.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m confident we can do big things this year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2025\/03\/MarachMarach_65830.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Marach Marach suited up in 22 of 23 games last season.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Liam Herbert has also extended his contract for season 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Herbert averaged 9.13 points, 2.17 assists and 3.39 rebounds per game last season, including a standout 28 point haul against Diamond Valley when a finals spot was on the line late last season.<\/p>\n<p>United get its NBL1 South season off to a start against Mount Gambier Pioneers at Geelong Arena on<\/p>\n<p>March 29.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A TRIO of Geelong United players have re-signed for the 2025 NBL1 South season.
