{"id":112488,"date":"2025-03-22T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-03-21T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=112488"},"modified":"2025-03-19T21:24:00","modified_gmt":"2025-03-19T10:24:00","slug":"success-for-inaugural-geelong-boat-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/success-for-inaugural-geelong-boat-show\/","title":{"rendered":"Success for inaugural Geelong Boat Show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ORGANISERS of the inaugural Geelong Boat Show have labelled the event a success after two days of marine action on the Geelong Waterfront over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Held on March 15 and 16, more than 4,000 people turned out in support of the event, despite cooler conditions on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Organised by the Boating Industry Association of Victoria (BIAV), the event aimed to immerse attendees in everything boating.<\/p>\n<p>Displays were hosted right across the waterfront, taking place at the Royal Geelong Yacht Club, Stony Pier Lane, Fairnie Park and Transvaal Square.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2025\/03\/Photo16-3-2025-12051_31841.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"1067\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Thousands of people headed down to the Geelong Waterfront for the show.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Well done to the 25 high quality exhibitors that displayed a great array of fishing, cruising, ski, paddle and sailing boats as well as many boating accessories and services,&#8221; BIAV chief executive officer Steve Walker said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our thanks go to the Royal Geelong Yacht Club and the City of Greater Geelong, as well as the other supporters of the first-time event, all chipping in to make it possible and successful.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The best exhibit prize went to Bar Crusher for their display, which included sea trials, with general manager Sam Holmes saying they enjoyed being part of the show.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2025\/03\/Photo16-3-2025-65301_31799.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"1066\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The show was held across the Royal Geelong Yacht Club, Stony Pier Lane, Fairnie Park and Transvaal Square.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With the ability to get out on the water combined with the great setting down on the waterfront with the Yacht Club and marina as our background, it made for a spectacular spot for our guests,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>BIAV will now reflect on the event and visitor feedback as it looks at future options for the show.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ORGANISERS of the inaugural Geelong Boat Show have labelled the event a success after two days of marine action on the Geelong Waterfront over the weekend.
