THREE south-west region apprentices were honoured for the quality of their work at Master Builders Victoria’s Regional Apprentice of the Year Awards, presented in Geelong on Thursday last week.<\/p>\n
Torquay’s Jack Logan, a fourth-year carpentry apprentice with JM Homes Surf Coast, was awarded the South West Apprentice of the Year Developing Leader Award.<\/p>\n
“From a young age, Jack knew he wanted to pursue carpentry,” judges stated.<\/p>\n
“Described as a strong leader, he enjoys mentoring younger apprentices, believing that supporting the next generation will help shape a better future for the industry.<\/p>\n
“Looking ahead, Jack is eager to continue expanding his skills and deepen his knowledge in business and project management, with the goal of running his own business one day.”<\/p>\n
East Geelong’s Eva Hay, who is a third-year painting and decorating apprentice at Prime White Painting, claimed the South West Chairperson’s Award.<\/p>\n
“Eva’s passion for the arts naturally led her into the industry, where she finds joy in seeing projects come to life with a beautiful finish,” the judges noted.<\/p>\n
Point Cook’s Ben Chambers, a third-year carpentry apprentice at Noordenne Constructions, took home the South West Apprentice of the Year, Future Builder Award.<\/p>\n
Apprentices nominated for the awards were judged on their preparation and presentation, work experience, knowledge and career plans, attitude on and about the job and industry representation.<\/p>\n
The south-west winners will go on to the state Apprentice of the Year Awards at Marvel Stadium on May 8.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
