THE Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative is inviting the community to learn more about what the organisation does at its open day on Monday, April 7.<\/p>\n

To be held at the Norlane ARC, the event aims to show the community what Wathaurong does as an organisation and how they can get involved.<\/p>\n

Wathaurong marketing and partnerships manager Beth Davis said although this is the first time the Co-operative had staged an open day for people to learn about its services and programs, it often held other events throughout the year.<\/p>\n

“We do a lot within the community and for the community, but we also host a lot of cultural events as well that the wider community are welcome to come to.<\/p>\n

“It’s an opportunity to just come and learn more about Wathaurong as a whole and we have so many different events and programs that people just may not have any idea about.”<\/p>\n

The open day will be set up as expo with tables and stalls for the different programs and staff on hand to answer any questions.<\/p>\n

Different activities and activations will also take place, allowing people to get involved including face painting, scavenger hunts, giveaways and more.<\/p>\n

Ms Davis said the open day is an event everyone is welcome to attend.<\/p>\n

“While our services are geared towards Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the region, we want to encourage everybody to come along.<\/p>\n

“We also want the wider community to come along and learn more about us as an organisation and maybe how they can support us in the community as well.”<\/p>\n

The day will be split into two sections, with external organisations and businesses invited between 1pm and 3pm and community members between 3pm and 7pm.<\/p>\n
