{"id":113464,"date":"2025-04-13T17:05:37","date_gmt":"2025-04-13T07:05:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/grubbers-player-in-good-spirits-after-being-taken-away-in-ambulance\/"},"modified":"2025-04-13T17:54:32","modified_gmt":"2025-04-13T07:54:32","slug":"grubbers-player-in-good-spirits-after-being-taken-away-in-ambulance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/grubbers-player-in-good-spirits-after-being-taken-away-in-ambulance\/","title":{"rendered":"Grubbers\u2019 player \u2018in good spirits\u2019 after being taken away in ambulance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OCEAN Grove coach Mathew Gorski has provided a positive update about Grubbers player Luke Devlin, who sustained a concussion during yesterday&#8217;s (Saturday, April 12) reserves match in the Bellarine Football Netball League.<\/p>\n<p>Devlin, 19, was taken to hospital via ambulance and the match between Ocean Grove and Portarlington was called off in the third quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Trainers from both clubs tended to Devlin following an incident in play at Shell Road Recreation Reserve.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s going well now\u2026 his CT scan has come up all clear as far as no bleeds on the brain and he was in good spirits,\u201d Gorski said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe managed late last night to get around and see a couple of friends just to let them know he was okay.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was feeling well this [Sunday] morning when I checked in.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 605px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/04\/0G2A0150_09760.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"605\" height=\"403\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ocean Grove&#8217;s Luke Devlin is taken away in an ambulance.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Gorski praised the trainers and helpers from both clubs for looking after Devlin and assisting the ambulance.<\/p>\n<p>He said the Grubbers were declared winners of the 5.2 (32) to 3.1 (19) game because the incident occurred after half-time, and added Devlin would enter concussion protocols, which is a minimum 21-day return-to-play period.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>OCEAN Grove coach Mathew Gorski has provided a positive update about Grubbers player Luke Devlin, who sustained a concussion during yesterday&#8217;s (Saturday, April 12) reserves match in the Bellarine Football Netball League.
