{"id":113639,"date":"2025-04-20T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-04-19T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=113639"},"modified":"2025-04-17T16:23:01","modified_gmt":"2025-04-17T06:23:01","slug":"local-school-wins-at-victorian-school-sports-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/local-school-wins-at-victorian-school-sports-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Local school wins at Victorian School Sports Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GROVEDALE College has been recognised at the 2024 Victorian School Sports Awards.<\/p>\n<p>The annual awards recognise the sporting achievements of Victorian Government school students, teachers, parents and volunteers across all categories of major school sports.<\/p>\n<p>At a Melbourne presentation ceremony recently, the local school received the Outstanding School and Community Partnerships Award for its support in genU&#8217;s annual Big Day Out event.<\/p>\n<p>The award is presented to a school that has developed a partnership with their local sport community and sports participation opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past eight years, students in years 9, 10 and 11 at Grovedale College have assisted in delivering engaging activities for genU participants.<\/p>\n<p>Involved in every aspect of the day, students also participate in the group warm-up involving more than 100 corporate volunteers, organising equipment and setting up activities.<\/p>\n<p>Students developed an awareness of inclusivity and learned how to see the person before the disability.<\/p>\n<p>Since the Victorian School Sports Awards&#8217; start in 1994, more than 1500 government school students, teachers and school communities have been awarded for their achievements.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, the full list of award recipients and to nominate somebody for a 2025 award, head to <a href=\"http:\/\/ssv.vic.edu.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ssv.vic.edu.au<\/a> .<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GROVEDALE College has been recognised at the 2024 Victorian School Sports Awards.
